In 2006, the world gave us the gift that is 30 Rock. While we all love Liz Lemon, let’s be honest… Jack Donaghy (and their friendship) makes the show. A lesser known fact is that the man behind the character, Alec Baldwin, actually owns several properties in Manhattan. Between stints as Trump on Saturday Night Live, the actor recently sold his Art Deco apartment in the Upper West Side for $1.25 million.
The property in question is a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment located in the Upper West Side that was originally designed to be used as a library, office annex, or residence for building staff.
The unit is in the Eldorado building, a beautiful stone Art Deco building designed by the famed Emery Roth. As Baldwin would say on SNL, “It’s great. It really is. One of the best buildings. You know, people are always talking about the Eldorado, and they are always saying, “it really is one of the best buildings.” Plus, the stone towers are yuuugggee. Great views over Central Park. Seriously. Some of the best views. Really great views. That’s what everyone says.”

The first-floor unit boasts enormous 12-foot ceilings, a spacious living room, an eat-in kitchen, and hardwood floors.
The apartment sold on May 3, 2017, but this isn’t Alec Baldwin’s first lucrative deal in the Eldorado. In 2011, the actor sold a spacious 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom apartment within the building for a whopping $9.5 million.
Both properties were listed around the same time in 2009, so although the most recent transaction was a smaller deal, you can imagine the relief of finally selling a property that has been on the market for over eight years.
Aside from the pristine condition of the unit, there were several other value-adds that came with the property to incentivize prospective buyers. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and the new resident will be moving into a star-studded residential location, with the likes of Moby, Sinclair Lewis, Faye Dunaway, and Michael J. Fox all calling the building home at one point or another.
As the buyers get acclimated with their new neighbors and home, we like to imagine Alec Baldwin enjoying a nice Donaghy-sized drink to celebrate the sale of the property.
