Helen Gurley Brown‘s Upper West Side penthouse finally closed at $19.38 million. The former Cosmo editor called 211 Central Park West home for over forty years before passing away in 2012.
The 2,800 square foot penthouse apartment has over 200 square feet of terrace that overlooks Central Park with 360-degree views.
The property has two true bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, but there is also a library with an en-suite bathroom that could be used as a third bedroom if needed. This one of a kind property also has private elevator access on the main floor that provides a unique perspective when travelling up the apartment.
The interior of the penthouse is just as breathtaking.
The living room has ten-foot ceilings that open up to the wraparound balcony. The dining room provides spectacular views from the south and connects directly with the kitchen making entertaining a breeze. The top floor of this penthouse apartment is massive with seventeen-foot ceilings and beautiful views of Central Park.
The Beresford
This Upper West Side icon was built in 1929 and has 193 units spread out over 20 stories. The building allows pets, has an elevator, and is staffed with a full-time doorman. Additionally, The Beresford offers amenities such as Verizon Fios, a bike room, a gym, a live-in super, cold storage, and on-site laundry.
Ms. Brown’s penthouse property is not the only high-end listing at the Beresford though. There are currently five active listings ranging in price from $7.85 million to $18.95 million.
The majority of these listings have been on the market anywhere from a few weeks to over 120 days. There is one active listing that has been on the market for over a year, but that appears to be the one exception rather than the rule.
