The Lord of the Rings executive producer, Bob Weinstein has listed his massive $19M Upper West Side brownstone for sale.
Weinstein is an American film producer who founded Miramax and his current company, The Weinstein Company. He has an extensive track record of major films, including two Lord of the Rings movies and Pulp Fiction.
The brownstone was first purchased by Weinstein in 2009, exactly 99 years after the building was originally built in 1910. As such, Weinstein took the effort to do a complete gut renovation, upgrading everything to the highest standard.
The renovation was careful to maintain a historic feel by using the same period-correct wood panels and wide-plank wood floors. The statement 5-story oak staircase was carefully restored, keeping its intricately woven and carved spandrel. There is also an elevator available from the garden level to the third floor for when the stairs just won’t do.

The unit has 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, as well as a large recreation room, home gym, and a basketball court that was converted from a bedroom on the fifth floor. At just over 6,600 square feet above grade, this home is truly massive. Outside, there is a full roof deck, a garden patio, a terrace, and two balconies.

Although Weinstein put much effort into renovating, he never actually spent time living in this townhouse, which is unfortunate given this $19M unit mixes comfort and luxury all into one home.
