Midtown West Restaurants

by | Sep 19, 2014

Midtown West has perhaps the most extensive restaurant selection of any neighborhood in New York City. Whatever the occasion, you can find the perfect spot to get some grub. For starters, Restaurant Row offers an overwhelming amount of possibilities. Located in the Theater District on 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, it includes over 30 restaurants. Its convenient access to the Broadway theaters makes the Row an easy option for meals before or after a show. Among the top ten restaurants are Barbetta, Firebird, and Sushi of Gari 46.

If you’re trying to avoid the chaos of Times Square and the Theater District, there are plenty of choices offering a more elegant and mellow ambience. On a romantic dinner date, try the Veal Chop Parmigiana at Trattoria dell’Arte, the Original db Burger at the sexy db Bistro Moderne, or the Dover Sole at the world famous 21 Club.

Midtown West has no shortage of restaurants optimal for a night out with friends, either. When you just want some casual comfort food, head to Serafina for the mouthwatering Tartufo Nero pizza. If you’re in the mood to get dolled up and go somewhere on the trendier side, check out The Breslin, which also has a fun bar scene. Excellent for brunch as well, don’t miss the Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich. Blue Ribbon Sushi is ideal for a lighter meal or a more low-key evening. They serve incredibly fresh and tasty sushi in an atmosphere that’s a bit more inviting than your typical Japanese restaurant.

Should the occasion arise when you allow your family to come visit, take them to one of the best steakhouses in the city, Quality Meats. You can’t go wrong with the Seared Three Filets, and the Corn Crème Brulee is to die for. Momofuku’s modern and sophisticated Ma Peche serves exquisite Asian-inspired small plates that are perfect for sharing. After your meal, head upstairs to the Milk Bar for the best dessert you’ve ever had – Crack Pie. If you happen to be catching a Broadway show, try Mario Batali’s Esca, a phenomenal Italian restaurant within walking distance of the theaters.
