Seth Meyers Is Moving To Greenwich Village

by | Aug 29, 2016

The host of Late Night, Seth Meyers, recently purchased a Greenwich Village duplex at 32 Washington Square West for $7.5 million. Meyers joins other notable residents of 32 Washington Square West, one of them being Mary-Louise Parker who previously owned the same unit.

Parker originally sold her apartment back in 2013, and the new owner has been trying to unload the property since 2015. After being on the market for about a year, a drastic price reduction from $9 million finally did the trick.

It’s a mystery why the starting price was set so high. It is difficult to discern from the listing pictures what improvements were made to the property during 2013 t0 2015 that would justify the $9 million starting point.

Meyer’s new home is full on luxury with five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and 3,200 square feet of living space. Costing roughly $7.5 million, Meyers will also (not) enjoy the maintenance cost associated with the luxury unit. The monthly maintenance charges on this Greenwich Village duplex are unfortunately over $7,700 per month which is over $85K a year. At $7.5 million, the price per square foot comes in close to $2,421 which for Greenwich Village is not unreasonable.

The building has 31 units spread out over fifteen stories. Built in 1925, 32 Washington Square is another highly sought after pre-war building in the five boroughs. The building does have a full-time doorman along with elevator access. The building features an onsite gym, and the lucky residents also have access to Verizon FiOS.

The building was originally designed by architects Deutsch & Schneider which explains how the fascia is adorned with red bricks that feature terra cotta ornamentation and trim.

There are currently no active listings, so if you’re looking to make a move anytime soon, you may have to wait. 32 Washington Square is only a short walk from Washington Square Park, which if you are looking for outdoor space doesn’t get much better than that.
