The 5 Best West Village Restaurants that Won’t Break the Bank

by | Mar 22, 2017

New York City’s West Village is typically known for its pricey apartments and luxury shopping, so we set out on a mission to find a few restaurants that won’t make your wallet cry as you reach for the check. We were pleasantly surprised with what we found. Here’s our list for the five best, somewhat affordable, West Village restaurants:

Buvette

Buvette is the quintessential cute French café taken from a quiet street in Paris and plopped down in the middle of West Village. The croque madame is divine, with its layers of ham and eggs on top of the perfectly buttery toast. If you’re coming for brunch, it’s best to come early – the restaurant is quite small, so with food this good there’s bound to be a line.

Joe’s Pizza

For authentic New York pizza, Joe’s Pizza is a no brainer. The pizza slices are huge, delicious, thin, fresh, and cheap everything you could want in a slice of pizza. With extended hours every night of the week, it’s the best place to satisfy your pizza craving whenever it hits you.

Taïm

Taïm is every falafel lover’s dream. The Israel-born chef, who has worked under Bobby Flay, artfully creates three different flavors of falafel that are perfectly complemented by tasty salads and delicious smoothies. We love the mixed falafel platter that includes falafel, hummus, two salads, and some of the best pita bread we’ve ever had.

Westville

Westville may be an infamous brunch spot across downtown Manhattan, but their original location is this one in the West Village. TripleMint agent and neighborhood expert Jim Moorehead recommended Westville to us for its American classics and great vegetable side dishes – we couldn’t agree more! They offer tons of tasty vegetable sides, the perfect addition to an order of their famous smoky mac and cheese.

La Bonbonniere

A rare greasy spoon in West Village, La Bonbonniere has to be one of the best places for a quick, filling breakfast in NYC. Bring your cash and grab some of these affordable breakfast classics. Our personal favorite is their challah French toast, but the fluffy chocolate pancakes and various omelets are close runner-ups.
