There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who live to eat, and the kind who eat to live. Assuming that you’re reading this review because you fall into the first category, this neighborhood is a foodie’s Utopia. From holes in the wall to the most elegant institutions, the Village has it all. Need a good date spot? You can’t go wrong with the Fettuccine Nero at L’Artusi, the Sushi Rice Balls at Chez Sardine, or the Glazed Duck at Perla. Parents coming into town to rescue you from another night of ramen noodles? Take them to Spotted Pig for the Sheep’s Milk Ricotta Gnudi, Numero 28 for the Tartufo pizza, or Spasso for the Ricotta Strascinari. On a casual night out with friends, try the House Made Mozzarella and Skirt Steak at Rosemary’s, the Penne Strascicate at Bar Pitti, or the Lobster Cavatelli at Café Cluny.
If you’re throwing a dinner party in your chic new apartment, it wouldn’t be complete without a decadent cheese plate from the famous Murray’s Cheese. To accompany said cheese plate, pick up some meats and homemade pastas from Faicco’s. And if you’re feeling really ambitious, order a roast from Ottomanelli & Sons. Don’t forget dessert, which you can scoop up from one of the many delicious bakeries in the area. The Red Velvet Cake at Amy’s Bread is irresistible and Molly’s Cupcakes serves every cupcake flavor imaginable (the Cake Batter is heavenly).
